Coca Cola’s global domination

What the hell is that huge globe doing in HaYarkon Park? Cola Cola Planet? Don’t we already live on a planet run by Cola Cola? What are they up to now? The answer: Another monstrous marketing gimmick. Abeit a pretty damn cool one.

Coca Cola over the past couple of years have been monopolizing the summer concert scene here with their “Coca Cola Village” on Nitzanim Beach (located between Ashdod and Ashkelon), so I guess they might as well start taking over the winter scene too. Their summer concert series was a huge success and drew hundreds of thousands of revelers but ut your standard ballad singing Israeli performer just ain’t my bag.

So what is this huge dome sitting in the park? Well, it’s apparently Coca Cola’s attempt to influence the other senses besides taste. Coca Cola Planet is a multimedia show with sounds, images, laser beams (my personal favorite) and a sountrack by Israel’s number one Trance music success story, Astral Projection. Tickets of course can’t be purchased but rather be obtained by typing in secret codes on the My Music website that are found underneath bottlecaps and tabs of your favorite Coca Cola beverage. I guess folks on sodium free diets lose out. The show runs through March 17. with with five performances a day.
