Aid for Both Sides of the Border

Dan Sieradski, aka the Orthodox Anarchist, points us to information on a concert coming up in Jerusalem, proceeds of which will provide humanitarian aid to both Israeli and Lebanese civilians whose lives were affected by the most recent war:

After the War

It is worth noting that in addition to Sieradski, the co-organizers include two Orthodox Jews. I bring this up only because the religious public in Israel generally aligns with the political right, though there are exceptions. The yeshiva attended by one of the co-organizers is in Bat Ayin, a West Bank settlement known, among other things, as rich ground for the extreme political right, though students at the yeshiva there come from all over the world, represent a much wider political spectrum, and often defy labels of any kind – cultural or political. Still, it is notable that they are working together with Seiradski, a known “left winger,” on a benefit concert for Lebanese civilians.

According to the news story, the motivations for the concert are to “have compassion for all civilians who have suffered, as well as the need to circumvent Hizbullah’s leadership in reconstruction efforts.”
