Early morning at Jaffa Port
I just love reading the blog “My Share of Sun in Israel” because the writer, Ernest, is neither Jewish, nor Muslim, nor Arab, nor Israeli. He’s a Christian Filipino, living in Israel on a work visa, and chronicling his travels, cultural observations, and sightseeing. His blog is refreshingly agenda-free.
Ernest often goes for strolls at the historic Jaffa Port. This week he provided a photo journal of his walk:
On my walk to Jaffa Port this morning, I passed by this apartment-like building, the Ilana Goor Museum, along the Louis Pasteur Street.
Its market says that Ilana Goor was originally a hostel which received Jewish pilgrims going to the Holy Land using the Jaffa to Jerusalem route.
In 1949, an area on the building served as a synagogue for Lybian Jews.
In 1995, it became Ilana Goor Museum.
A morning shot of the beach and the Tel Aviv buildings from afar.
I was expecting some early swimmers and surfers – surprisingly there was none.Well, except perhaps what I believe is a dog lying in the beach and seemingly didn’t mind getting wet with the coming and going of the sea waves.

Thanks for posting about this blog. It’s great. Bloggers are at their best when they write about their personal experiences – especially when they are doing something or are away somewhere unusual. Reading a blog should be like meeting a new friend or catching up with an old one. Too many bloggers get distracted by political commentary which can be had from experts and becomes redundant when every blogger is spouting their opinion. The everyday blogger is at their best when they are just telling about their own life experiences.
I went to the Ilana Goor museum about a month ago. It’s awesome. She made her home into a museum, and there’s so much interesting art there….There’s also a gallery in the basement where one can buy stuff, although it is a bit pricey…
I really recommend people going to the museum though…
