Taking One’s Time getting to One’s Destination

Meanwhile, somewhere in Israel, Dot Co Dot Il is still waiting for the birth of his first child:

Another day gone – spent in nervous tension.

This child really wants to make a grand entrance and have everyone on tenterhooks.

The in-laws even moved their flight forward 24 hours and never in our wildest dreams did we think we would be lounging around the house by the time they arrived and that included the 45 minute scenic drive around Jerusalem.
Why is it that no matter who else is in the Nesher – you are always the last one out?

Forget about things happening on Shabbat. Some 48 hours later and we’re still waiting….

Regarding his question about Nesher: Nesher is a company which provides van services from the airport to other cities (well, Jerusalem at least; I can’t speak for all of Israel). If you are leaving Israel, the day before, you make an appointment for Nesher to pick you up a few hours before your flight. Invariably, you are the first one in the van or mini-bus, and you end up driving around Jerusalem for an hour picking up other people.

Coming into Israel, you get your luggage, wheel it to the line of Nesher vans, wait while a dispatcher tries to pack people in using some logic based on their destinations, and then . . . it is true . . . invariably you end up driving around Jerusalem for an hour, and you are the last one to be dropped off. It never fails.

A Word to the Wise: if you can arrange it, have someone pick you up from the airport. If you can afford a private taxi, take one.

On the other hand, you always meet very interesting people in the Nesher van.
