Whither national depression?

Dr. Fania Oz-Salzberger, a history professor at Haifa U and a member of the Israel Democracy Institute public council, has a compassionate and reassuring opinion piece in Ynet, about Israel’s national mood during and after the war, and to what extense our emotional state is proportionate (there’s that word again) to our situation.

She looks at three Israeli tactics of expressing depression, what she calls “wallowing, fury, and escapism,” and suggests ways that the feelings can be channeled into practical results. Worth a read.
