Rudy “Udi” Giuliani for President ?!?!

One wonders what the editors of Ha’aretz was thinking with this little exercise — The Israel Factor: Ranking the presidential candidates”. Probably, that there would be lots of discussion and links to it, obviously, but isn’t it a little early to be deciding who the next U.S. president should be as far as Israel is concerned?

Apparently not, for some, which is why this Israeli newspaper decided to put together a panel of “experts” to rate the potential presidential wannabes and decide which one would be good for the Jews/Israelis. They are going to update the ratings every month until the 2008 elections. That’s a lot of months.

My major pet peeve…NOT ONE WOMAN ON THE PANEL OF EIGHT! Wonderful how in this day age you can have two women on the list for President of the United States, and yet there isn’t a single women well-enough acquainted with Israeli and American affairs to participate in rating them? Present company included? Seriously, it’s really infuriating.

So, as obvious in the headline — Rudy Giuliani came out on top for now.

Who’s in second place? Newt Gingrich! Yikes!

I can’t quite figure out why Barack Obama came in last.

One Israeli blogger, Yonatan Bert of Dutchblog calls “an example of useless and stupid journalism” in a newspaper he normally respects.

Useless and stupid? I dunno. Definitely a little random and pointless. I like the reaction of this Jewlicious blogger

I can’t help but think that this exercise may help to drive traffic to their site and perhaps even sell newspapers, but it is nothing short of, uh, moronic interesting, since nobody can predict the future or know somebody’s true attitudes when that person is a politician watching their every word.

However, in the spirit of Ha’aretz’s prognostication, I’ve decided to add a list of the ice cream flavors with the greatest likelihood of saving the Jewish state.
