Feeding the Hunger Strikers
Adrian the Expat Egghead, who spent his summer dodging rockets on his commute to and from work in Haifa, attended last night’s rally in Tel Aviv calling for a state commission to investigate the handling of the conflict with Hezbollah.
It sounds like it drew a diverse crowd, and, judging from his report, Israelis simply can’t stand to see anybody go hungry, even if it’s for political purposes.
The Eggheads and friends went along to the rally last night in Tel Aviv. The strangest demo I’ve been to in Israel. Moshe Arens, Yossi Sarid, an Arab mayor from the Galilee, a rabbi from a yeshiva , grieving parents all shared a common platform and message.
Enough messing around and a State commission now. The crowd was touched by repeated calls by speakers for the hunger strikers to give up their strike and start eating. Israel needs dedicated caring people like that alive and fit.
