Eating Biblical Fruit Can Be Risky

Pomegranates are plentiful, pretty, tasty in Israel — and they are good for you, too — but eating them can be a dangerous business, as Nun Bet, who likes to sprinkle pomegranete seeds in salad found out the hard way:

So the other day I was eating salad with lunch and I looked down and saw bright red splatters all over my white shirt. At first I had no idea what it was. Was I bleeding?! Then I realized that it was pomegranate juice that had squirted out from a seed that I squished somehow while eating the salad. The picture above is fuzzy but click on it and you’ll get a larger version where you can see the stains more clearly.

Silly Nun Bet, everybody knows to take off their shirt while working on a pomegranate.
White shirts and juicy food can be risky business! My dad ate once a cherry tomatoe and squirted all over his friend’s white shirt.
I am just going to buy a special bib to wear when eating pomegranates!
Nonsense! That’s a stain to wear with pride.
