AOL buying an Israeli startup
Via Ouriel, news of yet another acquisition of an Israeli company by a high-profile player in the high-tech industry:
AOL buy a second israeli startup
Relegence is their new acquisition. First one being ICQ. Not as much money (around 50 million USD)
Relegance was founded in 1999 and operated until 2001 under the name eNow. Using proprietary technology, Relegence simultaneously monitors, indexes, and filters tens of thousands of live content streams, mostly internet and television. The company was considered very promising at its outset and was initially invested in by 1980′s junk bond king Michael Milken, through Entertainment Media Ventures fund.
The news was disclosed today, but i met the AOL VP yesterday at the Web2.0 conference that told me their were planning this acquisition.
Great news for israeli internet (although most operations in the US). More here
