At the supermarket

Ra’anana Ramblings had a very interesting only-in-Israel experience at the supermarket this past week:

An elderly gentleman, obviously very religious, is carefully scrutinizing a dairy product, some sort of yogurt or cheese. A store employee approaches him and says, “It’s Badatz (highest kosher certification available in Israel), if that’s what you’re looking for.” The man thanks her.

What’s so funny about that, you ask? Well, the employee was Arab.
