Video for peace

Wow. This video almost made me believe there could be peace in my lifetime.

(My general feelings about movements such as One Voice is that despite their work, chances for peace any time soon are slim. But without them, the chances would be zero. And anyway, someday when people are ready for peace — I estimate in about 200 years, if all goes well — we’ll need people like this who speak the language of resolution.)

  2. Two hundred years? I would say two thousand! (and no, I’m not joking either)

You see, the one major (and perhaps eternal) obstacle to the whole peace deal can be summed up in one word: Jerusalem.

I remember being in Israel during the Clinton-Arafat-Israeli Prime Minister (before Sharon, if anybody knows his name let me know) haggling out the details for a two state solution.

And guess what? They haggled out everything–but when it came to Jerusalem, the whole thing fell apart.

I believe that we will be building cities on Mars long before we achieve peace in the middle east. Despite being an optimist, history has a way of deflating all of our “good intentions.”

    PS

Polls are great, but never should be relied upon “as solid.” People’s opinions are like the wind–they change direction depending upon the season.
