Queen Marissa
The influx of Philippine foreign workers to Israel over the past years took on new dimensions over the weekend; the Israel community crowned 32-year-old Marissa Enogue – an elder care aid worker of six years – Miss Philippine Israel 2007. Marissa edged out 50 other beauty queen hopefuls for the title.
“In Israel I have learned strength and independence and I’ve gained a tremendous amount of self confidence,” Enogue told press after being crowned. In addition to the title and prestige, she gets a round-trip ticket to Manila.
Adaptation to life on the Med is apparently going smoothly for the community; one contestant surprised the audience with belly dancing for the talent portion of the contest and another performed a popular number in Hebrew. Schoingemacht.
