He is the walrus
Who says just ‘has been’ rock stars come to Israel? Sean Lennon is 1- an indie fave, 2 – quite talented, 3 – a bona fide 2000 celebrity, 4 – no longer friends with Lindsay Lohan, and 4 – Beatles royalty.

Since I’m lucky enough to interview said ‘has beens’ and ‘coming ups’ for a daily paper here, I had the opportunity to talk to Sean last night. And he had some nice things to say about Israel ahead of his March 10th show in Tel Aviv at the comfortable Hangar club in support of his excellent album Friendly Fire.
Calling our home a “magical special part of the world” and “one of the most important points on the whole planet” warmed these old cockles. Equally goose-bumpy was listening to Lennon talk about sitting down as a teen and learning the entire Beatles catalogue note for note. He really seemed like a sweet, gentle artist type, which considering how he could have turned out, is somewhat reassuring.
And as if Lennon’s show wasn’t enough, the same night in Tel Aviv, the great NY anti-folk artists Regina Spektor is playing at the Barbie Club. Talk about tough choices…
