Politically, they’re at opposite ends of the spectrum – Saleem Abboud-Ashkar is a left-ish Arab-Israeli living in Berlin and Itamar Golan is a right-center Israeli living in Paris. But when they get together to make music, it’s harmonious indeed.
The two piano virtuosos have been playing the world together for years and in an upcoming concert gala honoring Arthur Toscanini, they’ll duet with the Israeli Philharmonic, playing Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos, Riccardo Muti conducting.
“We’re friends and we enjoy playing together but we don’t agree politically,” Abboud-Ashkar remarked of his relationship with Golan.
Cheers to putting differences aside for the sake of art!
