Darfur Refugees to Kibbutzim

According to an article in the Hebrew daily Maariv, almost a hundred refugees who fled Darfur’s war and genocide are living on Israel’s kibbutzim and moshavim.

Kibbutz Movement secretaries Gavri Bargeel and Zeev Shor say it’s Israel’s responsibility to serve as an example in aiding refugees fleeing from persecution because the Jewish people have firsthand experience of the international community’s avoidance of plight.
Unfortunately, a sizeable number of Sudanese refugees are also housed in Israeli jails for political reasons. But Kibbutz Movement Leadership says they’re negotiating with The Public Committee for Darfur Refugees to… (hopefully get them onto kibbutzim as well)
