Snip & Tuck

A growing trend in Israel – and worldwide – is the decision to forego circumcision for boys. Jewlicious has been hitting the books researching the correlation between HIV and circumcision. Or that would be HIV and lack of circumcision.

Data on his site says circumcised males are 60% less likely to contract HIV (!) than their intact brethren.

Circumcision is the most potent intervention in HIV prevention that has been described World Health Organization AIDS Division Director Kevin DeCock (okay, Mr. Licious, did you make that name up?) is quoted as saying.

And sorry but there will not be a visual with this posting.

  2. DeCock might want to explain how non-cutting Japan has a lower HIV incidence than 95%-cut Israel. Or how mostly-cut USA has three times the AIDS problem Europe has, even though circumcision is rare in Europe. Even in Africa, several nations (like Malawi, Lesotho, Ghana, Rwanda, Cameroon, and Tanzania) have more HIV cases among the circumcised than among the intact.

450,000 US men who were cut at birth have died of AIDS. Circumcision does not prevent AIDS.
