Here We Go Again…

Back in October, gay community leaders sparked rioting and demonstrations within Jerusalem’s ultra-orthodox community with the announcement of plans for a gay pride parade. The parade was cancelled and in its stead a “Rainbow Gathering” of sorts was held.

Talk of a parade is back. The Open House Organization for Pride and Tolerance has asked Jerusalem police for a permit for June 21.

Uh oh.

This is the main human rights demonstration which will be held in Jerusalem this year and it is planned for every citizen,” said Open House chair Ayelet Shur adding that the violence during last year’s parade strengthened the public’s need to fight for the freedom of every person in Jerusalem.

Uh oh.
