Global Kosher Passover

For thousands of Israeli backpackers making global rounds, Passover with the family back home isn’t going to happen this year.

The next best alternative? Communal seders organized by Chabad and Israeli guest houses in places like South America and Asia.

“We’re expecting between 1600-1700 Israeli travelers,” Rabbi Yehezkel Lifschitz of Katmandu’s Chabad told Hebrew press. The rabbi’s only concern is that regional fighting may impede delivery of goods en route from Israel – a container full of wine, matzoh and kosher food items. Fear not. A standby chopper – the same one used to rescue stranded backpackers – will be on hand at the airport to fly goods to Katmandu “just in case.”

La Paz Chabad is planning for 700 Israelis and Ecuador estimates 50-60.

Chag Sameach Le’Koolam! (Happy Holiday to All)
