Mimouna!

One way of breaking the Passover matza monotony is through celebration of Mimouna (my-moon-ah)- a North African tradition that calls for feasting and whooping it up. Guests are ushered into open-doored households where they partake of yeast-filled goodies, sweets and fried delicacies.

Mimouna has trickled into Israel’s mainstream in past years and politicians, in particular, like to show up at feasts on the eve of outgoing Passover to have their pictures snapped as they break bread with celebrants.

East Med Sea Peace (!) offers a glimpse into his family’s Mimouna celebration and says he learned that historically the first to “attend (celebrations) at Jewish homes were the non-Jews”..

muslims and arabs would promptly attend their jewish neighbours’ houses and bless their jewish neighbours with warm participation.. my understanding is that even moroccan royalty has offered wishes this year..
