Travel w/Mom
Trekking through South America with mom in tow? No way, you say?
Not so in Israel.
A trend for the Now Generation is taking mom or dad along on that 4-month voyage to Vietnam, Thailand or India.
In this humorous and evocative article written pre-India departure, Israeli mom Neri Livneh tells of her preparation and trepidation surrounding an impending several-month journey with her twenty-something-year-old son.

“You know,” a saleswoman in Lametayel (travel goods store..slf) said to me, “more and more young people are inviting their parents to travel with them abroad. It’s a different generation now, today’s youth.”
I told her that I’d actually like to believe it was a different generation of parents, that I couldn’t imagine myself at age 15, 25 or even 40, instigating, of my own free will, an opportunity to share my mother’s company for more than a few hours.
Really? I can. But not on a trek. Are you kidding? Yes, I would trek. No, not with my mom. We’re more of the meet in Europe, see shows, hit cafes and shop genre.

Nice – for you at your age!
But us – well, I’m waiting for the dear ones to suggest a cruise – or else we’ll have to co-opt them ourselves. At least there’ll be clean sheets and food.
