7,150,000
That’s the number of residents in Israel this 59th Independence Day.
A few stats to ring in Israel’s birthday:
90% of Israelis live in cities; 2% on kibbutzim.
The country’s population grew by 1.8% or 124,000 over last year mostly due to natural causes i.e. births versus immigration.
Since the country’s formation in 1948, the population has grown 8.9 times; at statehood the population stood at 806,000. 1/3 of the “originals” still live here.
The country’s 5 largest cities are Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Rishon LeZion and Ashdod.

It’s kinda weird that they say “natural causes” instead of births. It’s almost as if they were comparing that to kids grown in test tubes.
First time that I’ve heard a government say that.
Either way, congrats Israel!
