What a Mensch
Shortly after 17-year-old Jerusalem yeshiva student Yishai Gaspan won the annual World Bible Quiz, he started arguing with the event host. Not over prize money or his share of the winnings; he wanted points taken off his score.

The winner of the annual World Bible Quiz on Tuesday asked to share his prize with the runner up after he discovered one of his answers was partially incorrect…(Gaspan) quoted a passage which refers to the Assyrian king Shalmaneser V, mistakenly naming his successor Sennacherib instead.
Despite his protests, Israel’s fifth president and World Bible Quiz judge Yitzhak Navon rejected Gaspan’s request (to knock points off the score) and said he displayed exceptional knowledge of the Bible during the quiz.
Gaspan was competing against 64 peers from 35 countries.
Pretty darned noble. Moshe, are you taking notes over here?

Stephanie, my son spoke to him last night (he competed but didn’t make the finals), and Gaspan said that he regretted arguing with the judges.
