Well it’s about Time! Sesame Street, sayeth Haaretz, will be coming back to Israel and the Palestinian territories after a looooooooong off-air hiatus caused by lack of $$.
Sesame Street Workshop prez Gary Knell was in Israel and the West Bank last week to effort renewing the series in these parts. Of course, being that we are where we are, peace and tolerance are messages producers bring into the mix.
In Israel and Palestinian areas characters are modified to fit local perceptions so Oscar the Grouch is dubbed “Moishe Oofnik” and the Muppet character learning to read is, in the West Bank, “Haneen”.
