What Dost Thou Sayeth?

A religious Jewish couple from Ashkelon decided to get a parrot. But they wanted to save a little bit of $$ on their purchase.

So they traveled off to Kfar Quassam – an Arab village east of Tel Aviv – where parrots go for half the price of “inland” (i.e. Israeli) parrots.

They get home with Polly and all’s well. Until he/she begins talking. In the early morning.

Just as the young man finishes his morning prayer – just about the time mosques would be calling Moslem followers to prayer – bright parrot begins chanting “Allah Uakbar” (Arabic: Allah is Great). Loudly & repeatedly.

The couple tried to break the habit. Teach the bird Hebrew. But each a.m. at six it was the same routine.

The wife couldn’t hack it. So the couple sold Polly off to an animal supply distributor.

Good luck Polly. May you, Insha’Allah, find a happy home.

  2. This is hilarious! It reminds me of a story about a guy called Chris who found out his girlfriend was cheating on him when his parrot started saying things like “I love you Gary” or “Hi Gary” when the phone was ringing, and who would also make kissing sounds…
