X-Ray Reality

The victims of terrorism, worldwide, are ordinary people going about their lives…

They represent a broad cross-section of humanity. They are commuters on the London subway system. And on the trains in Madrid. They are celebrants at a wedding in Amman, Jordan and at a bat mitzvah in Hadera, Israel. They are little kids eating pizza; they are tourists in Bali and Egypt. They are people praying in churches and mosques and synagogues. They are celebrating the Passover Seder

Inside Terrorism: The X-Ray Project is a traveling photo exhibit by artist Diane Covert showing X-Rays and CT Scans taken from Jerusalem’s “two largest hospitals.”

The exhibit has already hit Harvard Medical School & John Hopkins Med School and will continue touring the U.S. in 2007.

All of these images are the by-products of terrorism, which is a war on a civilian population. Terrorists pack their bombs with common objects – hex nuts, bolts, nails, watches – all meant for peaceful, utilitarian purposes. By blasting them into human beings, they create the madness of our times.. Diane Covert
