Kosher Workout

In the words of Maimonides (aka Rambam), a workout is a good and necessary thing for promoting a healthy body.

Enter Jerusalem’s “kosher gym” – a Givat Shaul neighborhood locale for men and women – separately! – to run the treadmill, bench press 250 and do leg lifts and stomach crunches in comfort and relative privacy.

“We provide a healthy option for religious people who have no other place to go..” David Malki, an emigrant from France who runs the club told Hebrew press.

At the gym, competition is out and feeling good is in. It’s not about strutting. It’s about cardio, building muscle strength and maintaining good health.
