The Last Jew

Yediot Ahronot/Ynet’s Tzur Sheizaf traveled to Afghanistan to meet the last Jew in Kabul. He’s a 60-something-year-old living on “Flower Street” with family ties in Israel – a wife and offspring in Holon – but he will stay put in Kabul so as not to relinquish his title of “last remaining Jew”.

The article about Zvulun Simantov is interesting albeit slightly annoying – Simantov squeezed the journalist for money claiming: You’ll make money off of the story. I want in on the action too. Feechs.

But Sheizaf’s tale of how Afghanistan downsized from 10,000 Jews to 1 within a century is interesting. And wily Simantov is bearable.
