Tonight begins the celebration of ??? ??????? – Jerusalem Day, the newest holiday on the Israeli & Jewish calendar. There are numerous events, concerts, and religious celebrations (including festive prayers at the Kotel (Western Wall) and the recitation of Hallel (festive Psalms) both in the evening and morning) taking place in the city. (Check out the Jerusalem municipality’s website for a list of just some events taking place over the next 48 hours).

This year is extra special as it celebrates the 40th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem and the liberation of the Old City and there was even a celebration in honor of day at the EU (even as EU diplomats boycott the celebration in Israel). In honor of this festive day, I bring you a music video from Hadag HaNachash frontman Shaanan Street about Jerusalem that was taken all over the city – you will probably recognize many of the places and faces in the video.
