Boycott Urge
A letter came across my Inbox yesterday forwarded from The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel .
The letter is an open call to The Rolling Stones not to perform in Israel during their Bigger Bang World Tour. Rumors of an impending Israel concert hit the press last week.
An excerpt from the letter to The Stones reads:
The Palestinian arts community received in disbelief media reports of your upcoming performance in Israel, at a time when Israel continues unabated with its colonial and apartheid designs to further dispossess, oppress, and ultimately ethnically cleanse Palestinians from their homeland. If the news is accurate, we strongly urge you to cancel your plans to perform in Israel until the time comes when it ends its illegal occupation of Palestinian territory and respects fundamental human rights as well as the relevant precepts of international law concerning Palestinian rights to freedom, self-determination and equality.
Whoa. Ethnic cleansing?
The local business and arts community is planning to counter the appeal with a website documenting Palestinian/Israeli artist collaboration and forthcomingness (yes, I invented that word).
“Ethnic cleansing”?

Well at least they say “their homeland”… it seems to me to be progress that they’re acknowledging that it is the Israeli’s homeland…
