Shai & Dror
Shai & Dror are Israeli columnists who collaborate for the Hebrew Maariv. They’re funny and quirky and each Friday they publish a list of “things not overheard this week” based upon the past week’s news events.
This time ’round their entries include stabs at a proposal by Israel’s Hebrew Language Academy to change the name “cigarettes” to “cancerettes”.
Shai & Dror:
- “It’s like calling a ‘car’ a ‘crashette’. Or ‘cheese’ ‘high cholesterolette’…(Member of the Hebrew Language Academy who proposed calling cigarettes ‘cancerettes’ re-thinking his proposal)
- “I really like having a cancerette after…oh, after sex I like lighting up a cancerette. It’s great!”…(Hebrew Language Academy member offering an example of how the word ‘cancerette’ can be used in casual conversation)
