Remember when you were a teenager working summer jobs to save for movies with friends, mall outings, that new CD or DVD that just came out or getaways with the gang??
Today’s Hebrew daily Maariv dedicates several pages to summer jobs for teens – what’s out there, industries looking to hire the younger generation and what can be expected in terms of hours and pay. 
A few interesting tidbits:
- The average eighteen and under worker will earn between $600-800 per month (NIS 3000-3710) or $3.75-5.00 per hour.
- The hottest jobs for teens: Catering waitstaff, camp counselors, swimming pool or water park positions, fast food industry jobs, retail clothing sales, gardening and horticulture, packing, gas station attendant…
Based on the industry averages, an Israeli teen will have to work the following number of hours to buy…
- 30 gigabyte IPod: 109 hours- Movie ticket + popcorn: 3 hours
- Sony Playstation III: 274 hours
- New Harry Potter book: 8.5 hours
- Disc: 3 hours
- 19-inch Flatscreen Computer Monitor: 75 hours
- Burger, Fries and a soda: 2 hours
- A Driving Lesson: 5.5 hours
