Score for the Girls
Women, begin breathing a collective sigh of relief. As of the coming week, a vaccine against cervical cancer will be available for Israel’s female population. That is, the population aged nine to twenty-six. And advocates are calling for future mandatory vaccination for all girls.
Initially the vaccine is being dispensed on a private basis in Israel and the cost is steep: NIS1500 ($370) per shot. The vaccine will prevent four types of Papilloma (HPV), a virus transmitted sexually. Statistics show half (!) of sexually active women contract HPV within their lifetimes.

The vaccine is administered in 40 countries worldwide, including the U.S. as of a few months ago.
I’m assuming (hoping), the cost will gradually drop.

In Australia, where the vaccine was developed, it is being administered free to
girls at school. It would be good if Israel could follow this great example.
I agree…and believe that eventually it will.
Does anyone know where the HPV vaccine is administered in Israel?
