Remember Benji’s entry about joining Maxim Magazine’s model shoot?

If only I were in Manhattan tonight I could be hitting the Israel21C/Maxim/American-Israel Friendship League party launching the Maxim July issue featuring the Israeli models he wrote about. The spread is going under the banner: “Women of the Israeli Defense Forces”…

The cover (not out yet) prominently displays model Gal Gadot (pictured here). Hebrew press says she will also be at the party being held at Marquee. I bet it’s gonna be a helluva bash.

    2. I respect Israel21c greatly, but this is a gross party and issue to sponsor. As an IDF soldier, I find it insulting that we are being displayed to the world as nothing but hot, sexual, naked women. We work very hard to gain respect and equality in the military, but this party just looks like the Israeli government is trying to sell the idea that we women soldiers are hot, sexual objects, rather than hard working and worthy-of-respect IDF soldiers.

    3. Agreed. \”Sex sells\” but if it\’s degrading and works as a countermeasure to gaining respect and equality, then what\’s the solution? Israel has this image out there in the world as conflicted, mostly religious and squalid. As you and others are pointing out, using sex to offset that image may not be in everyone\’s best interests…slf
