Say It Loud: I’m (fill in the blank) and I’m Proud
No, we didn’t forget last Thursday’s Gay Pride Parade in Jerusalem.
But ya know what? Things went off pretty smoothly despite predictions otherwise. And we were proud here at Israelity. Because no news in this case really was good news.
Bradley over at Haaretz was also proud. And he put his feelings into words more succinct than I can muster here. That’s why Brad gets paid the big buck$$.
Definitely give his Friday OpEd a read…
A wee share:
They’re here, they’re queer – be proud of Israel
I’m proud of the State of Israel. It may have more faults per capita than any nation in the world, faults which are duly broadcast, rerun, critiqued, and condemned as nowhere else….I know every criticism by heart. I’ll see your every damning denunciation, and raise you 10. But I am proud of this country, and the gay pride parade in Jerusalem goes a long way toward explaining why.
I am proud of ultra-Orthodox rabbis and yeshiva masters, who, though appalled by the parade and what they see as the abomination of homosexuality, publicly and unequivocally forbade their students from taking part in violent demonstrations.
I am proud of the policeman on King David Street who, when asked by a passing pre-schooler about the flag with the rainbow colors, replied, “There are boys who love boys, and girls who love girls.”
See what I mean about why he gets paid the big $$?

I am not proud of homosexuality among Jews. It is an abomination contrary to the Laws of G-D. I would not use violence against these “paraders”, but what right have these beings to display their acts against everybody`s face?
The fate of Sodom and of Gommorah comes to mind.
This is sin, as well as a rebellion against the Laws of G-D, and I pray that it is not Israel that bears the brunt of the retribution that is sure to come.
I agree with Peter ! May HaShem have mercy on those people who allowed this abomination to take place in Jerusalem. Their just as guilty of sinning as the homsexuals by not stopping the parade. To take it further, the Reformed and Conservative movements are guilty of sinning by allowing the homosexual to become Rabbi’s. I Never thought I would live to see such sinning being done in the Jewish religion. Sodom & Gommorah has nothing on today’s Jewish society. UGH !
