ReShaping the Industry
We’ve all heard it: If you work at a computer terminal, get up and move around every hour. Make an effort to exercise on a regular basis & eat healthfully lest the sedentary nature of the job catch up with your mid-section (or thighs or upper arms…)
Israel’s computer industry meal planners aka “hi tech foodies” are battling the bulge in a big way: Realizing that healthy investments = healthy returns, higher ups are offering employees whole grains, steamed fish, sushi, fresh vegies and lean meats instead of fried or creamy entrees, carb laden side dishes, red meats and pizza banking on getting happy, alert and productive campers in return.
Catering companies are re-vamping menus & nutritionists are being brought in. “Good nutrition staves off fatigue,” Schultz Catering nutritionist Ricky Torr told Hebrew press. “There’s a huge difference between people who eat junk and those who eat healthy food…when employees begin eating right, they immediately feel the difference.”
Management feels it too. A Canadian study shows a definite link between investing in healthy menus and company profit. The study (according to the Hebrew press) showed that every dollar put into employee health planning yielded a seven-fold return.

Amen to that, girl! Must send this article to our HR people immediately! I’m drowning in a sea of carbs and oil over here!
it’s really really true about eating light versus alertness. While comfort food i.e. mashed potatoes, meat, etc. is..uh..comforting, the sushi entree pays off at the end of the day…slf
