To the Amerikansky crowd celebrating in Israel, I hope you’re all able to get your fireworks, hot dog and supersized Slurpee on for the holiday. Although I have yet to find a Slurpee in Israel. A very small sized frozen coffee beverage, yes. No Slurpees. Good thing. You know what kinds of additives, colors and syrups are in those things?

To Alan Johnston and family: You’re not American but what an Independence Day. Thank goodness and now, please, if some of that magic could rub off on the Shalit, Regev and Goldwasser families…??

In the interim, enjoy this post by ex-pat American Allison about her summer schleps ventures to the mall – a place she’s spending far more time in than is her standard because kids are off school…Mall. Now THAT’s an American pastime, no?
