The Chinese Connection

Maariv Hebrew daily ran a story yesterday about an Israeli task force readying to embark on a medical expedition to China. Their mission: Improve the scope and field of medical treatment and research there.

The article sez a team of senior scientists and doctors, with the blessing and planning of newly inducted President Shimon Peres, hopes to elevate the level of surgical operations and improve the quality of service to patients.

“It is encouraging to see that China, which is such a big and strong country, is not drunk with power but is working to create equilibrium in the world,” Peres was quoted as saying in the article.

“Drunk with power”? Did he seriously say that? I’ll drink to that.
