Debka Heroes

Several thousand Israeli Arab residents of the Northern city of Acco rightfully earned their place in the Guiness Book of World Records last weekend.

Their feat?

Forming the largest ever public Debka Dance-Chain in the city.

Haaretz.com’s Yoav Stern reports that a record 2,743 people formed a dancing human chain down the street for seven minutes last Saturday, thereby breaking the 1,700 person human chain record set in Toronto a few years back.

The Debka , BTW, is an Arab folk dance performed in a chain or line while holding hands.

Sill not clear on exactly what this Debka thing is? Take a look at the dancers from this Lebanese t.v. clip. & Enjoy the backdrop of Baalbeck!

Thanks, Liza, for the tip
