Set-Ups
Dating 101. *Sigh* If you’re out on the open market, I advise getting in there with gusto and having a good time of it. Date, date, date. Meet, meet, meet. You might encounter some very interesting people and find your match in the process.
If you’re setting up your friends, however, careful is a good rule of thumb. Relationships can take a hit when good intentions are misconstrued or anticipation is met with disappointment.
This YNet news story offers do’s and don’ts for setting up friends with friends. A few listed here:
- Do not set up a friend with someone you haven’t met
If you heard about a guy from your friend, who heard about him from the sister of the brother-in-law of a lame cousin, and you never even laid eyes on him, do not set her up with him. All the good intentions in the world will not help you if the date is a disaster.
- Sex partners? They are out of the picture
Setting up your friend with a guy with whom you have a sexual past is inviting trouble. Even if you are sure that you have no feelings for him, you may feel, to your great surprise, jealousy and possessiveness when you see him in your friend’s arms and by then it will be too late.
- Do not set her up with your cast-offs
If you went out on a date or two with someone and then dumped him, he’s not meant for your friend. First of all, she is not a garbage can. And besides that, chances are that it won’t work for them either.
There’s more…golly gee.
