Ball Four
I know, the name’s been taken, but Ball Four seems like the perfect title for this comprehensive play by play of the first season of the Israel Baseball League, written by Israeli journalist and ISRAEL21c contributor ELLI WOHLGELERNTER. He, more intelligently titled it ‘The Oys of Summer’.

For all of us who had great times at the games we went to, the behind the dugout controversies and fights seems like one of those Israeli telenovellas that we’re addicted to.
Here’s hoping that despite all the problems outlined here, the IBL will be back for another season next year.

Um, that link doesn’t go to the article.
The writer of that blog used to be known for soft porn. A Baseball and Sex documentary Elli Wolghelenter was trying to get off the ground. I guess he has graduated toward sensationalist dirt digging. The odds of there being successful baseball in israel increases with people not making unfair criticisms even if based upon fact and pot shots towards a brand new league. What kind of a baseball fan digs dirt rather than being like the rest of us who have a terrific time at games? I find it hard and disappointing to know that 21C which I have supported employs someone who is going against the very core direction of 21C and that is bringing forward positive additions witihin israel, and making them known to the rest of the world. When has there ever been such a positive story as Israel Baseball in world media? We know what the other articles about Isreal look like
What is your contribution here Israelity for publicizing his crap or Elli for digging it up? Elli are you looking to become famous at the expense of others’ hard work? The fact that this league got off the ground in such a difficult people and business climate is incredibly amazing. Those who were a part of it and did it deserve only accolades despite the flaws which may have existed. I feel sad for those who have worked so hard to be (non) rewarded by this type of criticism. It must feel awful.
