1st Day Re-Cap
Yesterday was the official start of Israel’s school year. It’s always a big deal as it is anywhere. T.v. news reports on 1st graders and their first day, interviews w/teachers and kids, high schoolers awkward but excited, kids, kids and more kids splashed across newspaper front pages.
Raanana Ramblings succinctly summarized the bittersweet assorted feelings associated with the start of the year in this blog entry.
A joyful noise
Shhhhh. Listen. Do you hear what I hear?
That’s right. Blessed silence.
Yes, it’s September 1, and that means “Back to School” here in Israel. It was a bittersweet morning- while the kids were sort of excited to go back (hey, no one was more excited than me), they looked less and less thrilled as we escorted each one to his respective classroom. Part of me wanted to grab my babies and take them to an amusement park.
I got over that feeling pretty quickly….
