Get Ready for Royalty

I used to work with an ABC News correspondent in Israel who referred to gefilte fish as “that gray stuff sitting in mucus”.

Not very appetizing, is it? But think about it from his perspective. If you hadn’t grown up eating it for holidays or at Friday night dinners, you would probably have to fight off the gag reflex too.

Poor, poor Prince Edward. When he attends a pre-holiday Rosh HaShanah banquet later this week during a three-day visit to Israel, he’s gonna have to put on a helluva poker face when his piece of gefilte gets plopped down in front of him.

Maariv Hebrew daily reports that while here, His Royal Highness will be placing the final stone in a Jerusalem Peace Mosaic bearing the inscription “ask for peace and pursue it” and he’ll serve as the official guest of the Israel Youth Prize Movement.

Steer clear when appetizers are served.

Usually I object to royalty because it is absolutely against my principles, but this is her grandson.

Anyway, gefilte fish is an ashkenazi dish, a dish from the diaspora, – rather feed him Israeli food.
