If the thousands upon thousands of Israelis who travel to India each year feel slightly homesick, they’ll need only head to New Delhi to get a slice of home.

According to Hebrew press reports, a model replica of the Kotel is going to be built in Israel and transported to New Delhi as part of a “religious exchange” between Israel and India. Israel will be getting a model Hindi temple to be erected in Jerusalem.

The exchange was initiated by Jerusalem mayor Uri Lupoliansky, New Delhi mayor Arti Mahara and the American-Jewish Congress.

“The reputation of Israel’s backpacker population in India has improved,” Mahara told press during a visit to Jerusalem. “Positive moves, like this exchange, will improve relations between the countries.”

The Kotel replica will come complete with ready-made notes already slotted into cracks between stones.

  2. I have yet to figure exactly what the fascination is with India for young Israelis. It is a backward country with mostly ignorant superstitious people except for pockets of first world entities.
