Losing Friends

One of the pitfalls of relocating to a popular and attractive on a global scale locale is that it’s attractive and popular which means that people come and go. So friendships are sometimes short lived.

Alissah has been in Jerusalem for a tad longer than a year and she’s realizing that over 50% of her phone list has shifted.

Jerusalem often feels like the center of the world – a magical, transient city where so many young people come to figure things out. But more often than not, real life calls them back to wherever they came from and they leave. But what about those for whom life in this extraordinary (and often difficult and contradictory) place is real life? Before this, I was always the leaver; not the one left behind. Always the one leaving people behind to hop off to Israel. I am not used to this new role.

The truth of the reality is a bit sad but the variety keeps things interesting. Read on over here.
