Wedding Woes

What’s worse than…

1) a wedding dress that gets badly stained moments before the ceremony?
2) a family member who drinks him/herself into a stupor and creates a scene at the reception?
3) the caterers dropping the food?

Give up?

A knife fight between the bride & groom’s respective families, that’s what.

And yes it happened last week in Jerusalem.

As the story goes, the two family sides weren’t exactly warming up to each other from the get go. Some unresolved personal business had gone down between the sides in the past. So on nuptial night things were tense but the sides kept a respectful distance.

That is, until after midnight when an older family member from one side hit a kid from the other side.

All hell broke loose. Table knives were snatched up, bottles were broken to be used as weapons and rumble broke out on the dance floor. Dozens of police were called in to break things up.

The bride and groom made a safe getaway to their hotel and police arrested four.

Including the bride’s mother.

Now that’s unforgettable. And oh-so-classy.
