If you know diamonds then you’ve definitely heard of H. Stern.

Over the weekend, Hans Stern, the 85-year-old precious gem jeweler and Stern empire founder, passed away after a drawn out battle with cancer.

Stern escaped Nazi Germany weeks before the outbreak of WWII and fled to Rio De Janeiro where he built a diamond empire and gained the reputation “king of the precious stones”.

He was a generous philanthropist vis a vis Israel, believing that strengthening Israel was the key to strengthening Jews worldwide.
