Hump Day
Minds out of the gutters, friends. Minds out of the gutters.
It’s an expression referring to Wednesday. Hump Day. “OTHD” is Over The Hump Day or Wednesday. The mid-week, ho-hum day that segways into the weekend.
In Israel, Wednesday is most certainly NOT the OTHD because the week gets started on Sunday.
If you don’t live here and aren’t familiar with that little tidbit, it can be a shocker. Banks and post offices open and operational, schools in full swing (when there isn’t a strike) and business flowing as usual. On Sunday. It’s an odd concept until you get used to it.

lizrael update explains in this post how living in Israel has shifted her Hump Day: it’s now Tuesday. AND there’s no more TGIF. It’s TGIT – Thank God It’s Thursday – seeing as a majority of Israelis don’t work on Fridays.
Confused? Always good to mix things up a bit. Keeps us all on our toes.
