The GA
Don’tcha just wonder what goes on at those HUGE conferences and conventions that Other People attend?
Like the GA, The Superbowl of Judaism (nice term, Leah), that went down last week in Nashville, Tennessee?
Wonder no more, mes petits amis.
Leah spells out her experience – from Howard Dean’s opening session remarks to Condi’s surprise visit to heading out into the Tennessee table top dancin’ whoopin’ it up night air. Follow this link to read all about it.
This video is Leah’s latest project here in Israel. We like.

Combat to Cosmetics
What’s a man to do?
Serving in one of the Israeli army’s crack undercover units and going on from there to work as a Shabak security man takes its toll.
It’s tough work! And don’t get me started on the toll that type burly-man bodyguard undercover stuff takes on the complexion and cuticle beds.
*sigh*
Emanuel Yitzhak did what he had to do for his country. But ultimately the 30-year-old gave it up and went to the other side. The former combat type of guy opened a cosmetician business four years ago and he’s not looking back.
These days, instead of head-butting bad guys he’s applying facials, waxing legs and building nails.
“I thought I might meet girls this way,” Emanuel was quoted as saying in the Hebrew press.
Well, yes, he met girls. And learned how to arch eyebrows, apply eyeliner and give the perfect French manicure.
Wayta break down those stereotypes!!

Elisheva at lizrael update is getting a university degree in Jerusalem.
She recently discovered that in order to continue receiving government subsidized tuition – you’re privy to that kind of thing if you’re a new immigrant to Israel AND a student type person – she’ll have to give back.
I need to volunteer 120 hours with little kids, the elderly or other olim chadashim (new immigrants…slf). Apparently they only make you do it in the third year of receiving money from your aliyah rights. The program is called ??’?: ???? ????? ??????. (Community Service..sf)
It makes perfect sense – for two years, they’ve paid my tuition and it’s only fair that we’d have to give something back. A lot of us haven’t served in the army anyway.
Another goal is to get you – oleh chadash (new immigrant..slf) yourself – to integrate into society by mixing in with them, if you haven’t had enough chances already.
If you opt out, then you pay a percentage of the cost for the year.
And to think: no one had to commit a crime or rack up parking fines!
Hellooooooo India
Israel’s post-army travelers are in the habit of heading East to India, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
Now Israel’s culture is also traveling in that direction.
Popular soap opera Ha’Alufa, starring hunky Yehuda Levy, has been sold to India – quite the score for the show backers Dori Media Group. It’s also been sold to Russia. Local press isn’t disclosing exact figures but they’re somewhere in the upper millions.
Nu, so who’s going to dub it over to Hindi?
Enjoy the opening sequence
