Seniors: Enforce Anti-Smoking!
When new anti-smoking laws went into effect in Israel last month, grumblings echoed.
“No fair” “How can I have a drink in a pub without a smoke?” “It’s a breach of constitutional freedom!” “This sucks!”
But most were pleased. Smoke-free cafes, pubs and public venues is a welcome change.
Israel’s very vocal senior population recently began demanding that smoking bans be enforced in Golden Clubs and Assisted Living Environments too.

Smoking bans have not been enforced in private rooms or public areas of shared homes and seniors considering moving to such environments are concerned about passive smoke exposure.
The Health Ministry says there’s a ban in place in retirement homes but they’ll have to check laws affecting assisted living communities.

And that is “good news”?
Yeah. Because it means something’s being done about it.
