Lighting it Up
When congregants arrived at Judaism’s holiest site, the Western Wall, earlier this week it was for standard fare: evening prayers and the 8th night of Hannuka candle lighting.
Boy did they get more than bargained for.

Five minutes after the candle lighting ceremony ended, a 20-year-old woman busted into the gathering on the men’s side – congregants are separated by gender according to religious dictates – and she stripped to “nothingness” then reclined on the ground at the feet of the shocked men standing together in prayer.
According to witnesses, a few men screamed but initially nobody moved because the prayer the men were reciting at the time, The Amida , is silent and meditative and dictates concentration and quiet.
The Kotel (Western Wall) head rabbi eventually covered the woman with his coat and she was taken away for psychiatric observation as she murmured continuously “The Temple, The Temple”.
Wow. Anyone else reminded of Apocalypse Now?
